One of the greatest explorers in history, Robert Ballard is a pioneer of deep-sea archaeology and a former commander in the U.S. Naval Reserve. Over the past 40 years he and his teams have discovered some of the most notable shipwrecks of our time, including the German battleship Bismarck and the U.S.S. Yorktown from World War II, John F. Kennedy’s PT-109, and the most storied civilian shipwreck, R.M.S. Titanic—about which he will be sharing some recently declassified information surrounding the expedition.

Most recently, Ballard has been exploring the Black Sea, where wooden vessels more than a millennium old lie nearly intact, offering to shed new light on ancient civilizations. Ballard suspects he may eventually find preserved human remains in the wreckage, supporting his assertion that the world’s largest museum is in the depths of our planet’s oceans.
