exploration featuring evocative music and readings written by
and about great explorers, and images from National Geographic.
First Person: Stories from the Edge of the World is a remarkable collaboration involving National Geographic, NPR’s
Neal Conan, and the Celtic/early music crossover group Ensemble Galilei. In these performances, Conan narrates excerpts from the journals of great explorers such as Jacques
Cousteau, George Mallory, and Charles Darwin, along with works by writers such as Jim Harrison. The readings and musical selections will be illustrated with artwork, maps, and images from
the Geographic’s Image Collection, for an unforgettable celebration of humanity’s unquenchable desire to explore.
