The cover of Mother, Daughter, Sister, Bride
Co-authored by Lisa Ling, host of the National Geographic Channel’s award-winning series Explorer and anthropologist Joanne B. Eicher, Mother, Daughter, Sister, Bride is a compelling exploration of all things female. Each chapter of this new National Geographic book reveals the actions through which a woman connects with herself, her family, her community, and other womenfrom the quinceañera parties which celebrate a girl’s fifteenth birthday in Latin America to the pre-wedding henna ceremonies in which a Middle Eastern bride’s hands and feet are lavishly painted. To celebrate the book’s release this fall, the authors will join project photo editor Annie Griffiths Belt to discuss the historical, cultural, and personal impact of women’s rituals and ritual practices.
