Gary Staab face-to-face with one of his creations Photograph courtesy Gary Staab
Experience some of the strangest animals that have
ever inhabited Earth with Gary Staab, whose life-size
models of dinosaurs and other amazing creatures will be
featured in the National Geographic Museum exhibition
Bizarre Beasts Past and Present. An illustrator and
sculptor whose creations have been seen in museums,
movies, and on television, Staab himself designed this
exhibition, which explores the forces that cause life to
change over time and adapt to different environments.
While the animals Staab brings to life look like things
out of science fiction, each of them ran, swam, flew, or
crawled upon the Earth at some point in the past. Hear
this master artist explain the ideas behind the exhibition,
and learn how he brings bizarre beasts of the past
to life.
The National Geographic Museum exhibition
Bizarre Beasts Past and Present can be viewed until
10 pm following the presentation. The exhibition will
run September 20, 2006, through February 2, 2007.
