Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter will address NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC’s editors, writers, photographers, and international partners at the magazine’s annual seminar in Washington, D.C., on January 12, 2000, at 7:00 p.m. ET.

Carter will talk about health care in Africa and other global issues with which he is personally involved through The Carter Center.

Joining the magazine’s Washington, D.C., staff will be representatives from local-language editions in Japan, Spain, Latin America, Greece, France, Germany, Poland, Israel, and Italy. NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC plans additional local-language editions for Korea, Brazil, Portugal, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Finland.

During the dinner following President Carter’s discussion, Jason Carter—in a surprise visit—gave a personal glimpse into life as a presidential grandson.
