2.  NUCLEAR POWER
The Indian Point plant is New York City’s only nuclear facility. Uranium mined in Arizona is enriched with isotope U 235 and fabricated into fuel rods. The high cost of nuclear power comes not from the price of the fuel rods, but from the many safety measures involved in building plants.
