5.  GET DOWN
Violinist James Graseck has been playing regularly to subway crowds in New York City for more than a decade. A graduate of the Julliard School, he has performed at Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall but prefers the one-on-one contact that comes from his more intimate underground performances. “It’s about communication,” he says, “I’ve reached people across a lot of ethnic backgrounds and walks of life—including people with no background or prior interest in classical music.”
