Saddle Cleaning
After a brushing and buffing by rodeo performer Sherry Jobert (at left in the photograph) and her friend, a western saddle gleams in the afternoon sun at a Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo in Oakland, California. On weekends Jobert heads an African-American riding group called the Mahogany Riders. The group performs riding stunts in rodeos throughout the United States. On any given weekend riders will drive hundreds of miles hauling horses and equipment. They dont compete for the money, but for the thrills, excitement, and companionship, says Tarver. | |
