“This is me and Charlie Peter in his cabin in Old Crow. When I got there, he was chopping up dry meat—tougher than any beef jerky you get at the 7-Eleven—and listening to his fiddle music. He was surrounded by all these pictures; he must have had hundreds of grandchildren! He told me a wonderful story about his first hunt—a huge moment in everybody’s lives up there.”
