Karsten Heuer is taking his dog for a good, long walk. Furry friend in tow, the Canadian naturalist set out from Yellowstone National Park in May 1998 and should reach the Yukon in summer 1999. Along the way he’ll hike, canoe, ski, snowshoe—whatever it takes to spread the word of Y2Y, a movement seeking to secure a sort of international highway for wildlife, complete with “animal overpasses.”

Radio Expeditions reporter Alex Chadwick joined Heuer in Canada’s Banff National Park. Click the quotes at right to hear some of Chadwick’s pre-expedition comments. (You’ll need RealAudio.) Or read the full interview.
