Back to Yellowstone Fires: 1988

Cold-front winds of September whip the North Fork Fire toward Old Faithful. Firebrands flew over the geyser to set ablaze the hill in the foreground, where the photographers stood. Crews snuffed embers that fell on Old Faithful Inn.
