Ann Cyphers

Ann Cyphers
Age: 46

Hometown: Lewistown, Illinois

Occupation: Research scientist in archaeology at the Institute for Anthropological Research of the National University of Mexico.

Location of work: Mexico City, Mexico

Why I do what I do:

For me, archaeology is a daily journey into the past, whether I am in the field or the laboratory. I enjoy piecing together the fragments of information from ancient cultures in order to reconstruct and interpret them.

Most exciting moment in the field:

The most exciting moment occurred on May 3, 1994, when a face of the colossal head from the Olmec culture emerged from the soil of the Ojochi Ravine at San Lorenzo, Mexico.
