MULTIMEDIA

Since the late 1980s Belt has traveled the world as a photographer for National Geographic. If riding on camels and mules through the brush or navigating a moped down a dusty, crowded city street were not challenge enough, Belt decided not to let her career get in the way of having a family. The result is two incredibly well-traveled children and a husband who shares her passion for the world.

Known for her sensitive nature and ability to bridge the divide that sometimes exists between people of distant cultures and beliefs, Annie has been connecting with her subjects for nearly three decades. In her richly illustrated presentations, she shares her stories of the people and places she has visited and of the rewarding journeys between here and there.

Presentation Topics
Connect With Anybody, Anywhere
Without the common ground of language and cultural practice, we must rely on the truths that exist at the base of all communication: honesty, trust, and good intention. Journey alongside Belt as she searches and finds this common ground in uncommon places.

Last Stand: America's Virgin Lands
The book Last Stand, published with Poisonwood Bible author Barbara Kingsolver, captures and celebrates the United States' last unspoiled places through Kingsolver's words and Annie's hand-tinted infrared photographs. The presentation celebrates well-known and hidden environmental treasures, while working to preserve and protect what remains.

A Camera, Two Kids, and a Camel
Experience the daily juggle and immense rewards of traveling the world with children. With warmth and humor, Belt explores the realities of having it all as she hits the road for National Geographic.
