Considered a hero in his native Sweden, where he often hosts television specials, Klum regularly presents to the European Commission on environmental topics. He is known for his passion about nature and his unwavering commitment to getting the shot— such as living for 14 months in the tropical rain forest of Borneo.

Klum was recently selected to be a part-time guest lecturer at Uppsala University to teach biodiversity and sustainable development.

Though biodiversity issues are his mainstay, Klum also shoots human-interest topics. With the permission of the Dalai Lama, Klum journeyed to the northern Himalayan region of Ladakh to report on a 17th-Century Buddhist monastery that has been closed to outsiders for over a hundred years. He also recently published a book about the unique relationships seven people have with their horses, from a mounted police officer in New York City to a young girl living in the ghettos of Ireland.
