Meet Traveler magazine’s Yosemite National Park Experts

Laurel Boyers

Laurel Boyers, National Park Service wilderness manager, was also born in Yosemite and has worked there for over 30 years. She is the third generation of her family who has lived and worked in the park. Photograph by Suzi Beatie

Michael Adams, owner of Best Studio/Ansel Adams Gallery in Yosemite Valley, was born in the park and spent his youth exploring it with his father, renowned photographer Ansel Adams.

Nic Fiore

Nic Fiore, director of the Yosemite Ski School and High Sierra Camps, came to Yosemite in 1947 and never left. Nic has worked for the park for 54 years, where he has taught over 100,000 people to ski. Photograph by Tom Williams

Steve Medley has been president of the Yosemite Association, a nonprofit educational organization, for 16 years. He has written widely on the park, including The Complete Guidebook to Yosemite.

Kenneth Brower

Kenneth Brower, son of environmentalist David Brower, and author of the National Geographic book Yosemite: An American Treasure, has spent the last 30 years writing about environmental and outdoor topics. Photograph by James A. Sugar

Tom Frost, a pioneer of Yosemite climbing, has been climbing in the park since 1957. He’s co-founder of the outdoor equipment company now named Patagonia. When he’s not climbing, he helps foster partnerships between the National Park Service and the American Alpine Club.
