Chapter Two of “Where in the World is Melissa Rossi?” takes our travel adventuress to the ancient seaport of Split, Croatia. Arriving on the eve of the pope’s visit, Melissa witnesses the frenzy to capitalize on the crowds drawn by His Holiness. While there she discovers that this Adriatic city has attained a truly schizophrenic personality, thus living up to its name. Once a thriving tourism mecca for trendy Italian travelers, it has been slow to recover from its wartime image. Yet Split remains virtually untouched and proved to be a surprisingly sexy place of secrets and shadowy pursuits. A drooling leerer, a paranoid writer, and a poetic shop owner named Davor are a few of the eccentric characters Melissa encounters.
