Carriacou

Canute Caliste
Caliste—a local painter in his nineties whose island-inspired works appear in museums such as the Organization of American States Museum in Washington, D.C.—has a gallery in the tiny beachfront village of L'Esterre. Signs posted around the island will lead you there.

Colonial Ruins
Hike to the top of the 719-foot-tall Belair peak for stunning vistas of the Grenadines and fascinating ruins of French and British plantations from the colonial era.

Sailing
Discover this undisturbed paradise with a local sailor. Outfitter: Bayaleau Point Cottages, a family-run operation, matches visitors with locals who offer trips on their own handcrafted boats. Details: from $80 per person, including snorkeling gear, lunch, and drinks.
