12 Unknown Caribbean Islands

Terre-de-Haut

Terre-de-Haut, off the southern coast of Guadeloupe, is the only island in the Isles des Saintes archipelago with hotels and restaurants. There is little organized activity. Guests are free to explore at will, and relish the lack of obligation or modern-day interferences.

Activities

Hiking
Outside the village center, a steep trail takes you to the 18-century Fort Napoleon, a fortress with barracks and prison cells, model ships, and a botanical garden.

Anse Crawen
Located about a quarter-mile walk from Hotel Bois Joli (see hotels below), the beach welcomes divers and nude sunbathers.
