Bariloche, Argentina
The first time I saw Bariloche, its lakeshores and mountainsides
alive with Scotch broom and birdsongs in December, I knew it was the
place
for our second honeymoon. Or really our first, since I had sailed away
into
World War II without one.
Years later, the GEOGRAPHIC assigned me to
Argentina. I sent for Sue. We rode ski lifts to snowy summits, explored
a
spooky forest, caught rainbow trout, and sampled chocolates with Nobel
laureates and multilingual townfolk. After sundown, we went to
concerts,
feasted on churrasco, and in our feather bed made up for nights lost long
ago.
