Third Place: Anna Rhee, Airmont, New York
Six-Day Cruise for Two on a Maine Windjammer Schooner
A few months after Anna Rhee's husband had emergency heart surgery in May 2005, the couple took a second honeymoon to the island of Santorini in Greece. "The morning I took this picture we were on the caldera harbor on our way to visit the volcano," recalls Rhee. She was wandering around when she saw a group of workers taking a break. "I was immediately captivated by the scene, which to me reflected a fascinating side of Greek identity, bringing together sun, wind, sea, and a sense of hardship. Their faces expressed it all. I knew it would be a picture I will always treasure as my memory of Santorini." Rhee lives in Rockland County, New York, with her husband and three children.
