Photo of the Week: Michelangelo's statue of David
Florentine icon: Michelangelo's "David," here a copy standing tall in front of the Palazzo Vecchio on Piazza della Signoria, may be the most famous statue in the world. The original "David" was removed from Piazza della Signoria in the 1800s to protect it, and was placed in a custom-designed niche in the Galleria dell'Accademia.
