Atlanta, September 23, 1998
Sunday, Sept. 20, TBS Superstations National Geographic EXPLORER went into the Land of the Anaconda and delivered more homes than any basic cable documentary program for the week of Sept. 14-20 with a 2.2 rating/3.7 share and an average of 1,649,000 homes. Land of the Anacondas 2.2 rating ties the National Geographic EXPLORERs 1998-99 season premiere rating from August 23.
Land of the Anaconda follows biologist Jesús Rivera to the Venezuela wetlands as he tracks the worlds largest snake. Among its spectacular footage, the show captures on tape a giant snake devouring a 30-pound (14-kilogram) capybara, the worlds largest rodent, squeezing the beast so tight that its blood stops flowing.
TBS Superstation will present an encore of Land of the Anaconda this Saturday, Sept. 26 at 10 a.m. (ET)/7 a.m. (PT).
