National Geographic Channel Asia Appoints Advertising Sales Representatives

Singapore, September 14, 1998

National Geographic Channel Asia, launched July 1, 1998, has appointed Mediahouse, Inc., and Biscom as its Japanese and South Korean advertising sales representatives respectively.

Mediahouse, Inc., has represented NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC magazine in Asia for more than 33 years. Headed by founder Hiroshi Iwai, Mediahouse has been a pioneer in the field of media sales in Japan, being among the first to recognize the potential of satellite television and sponsorship of cultural events such as EXPO 92. Mediahouse also has a network of associate representatives throughout the region.

Biscom is headed by President Jo Young Sang and has been representing foreign print media in South Korea since 1986. Based in Seoul, Biscom has established relationships with major international advertisers in South Korea, government organizations, and private companies. Biscom sales staff working on the National Geographic Channel account include Doh Seung Ilyun, Marketing Director; Park Seung Min, Manager; and Kim Jong Cheon, Assistant Manager.

The two media representatives report to National Geographic Channel Asia’s Director of Advertising Sales, Karen Chia-Zimmermann, who has more than 10 years experience in media sales and marketing. Prior to joining National Geographic Channel, Chia-Zimmermann was most recently the Regional Sales Manager for NBC Asia responsible for the ASEAN, India and Hong Kong markets. She was also the Business Development Manager of Dow Jones Publishing Company (Asia), Inc., responsible for Asian sales of the Asian Wall Street Journal newspaper and the Asian Wall Street Journal Report, a business news program.

National Geographic Channel Asia brings to viewers the type of high-caliber programs that National Geographic Television has been renowned for creating for 33 years. The Channel’s programming covers natural history, science, wildlife, adventure, and peoples of the world. It features compelling stories and spectacular images.
