Nestled in the southwestern reaches of the Amazon River Basin, this ecoregion is home to colorful birds, stealthy cats, and the slowest mammal on the planet. Despite the increasing threats facing rain forests worldwide, the forests here are largely intact—and remarkable in their variety.
