Here’s the purr-fect partner for a spin on a motorcycle: Motor Cat! The speed-loving, fearless feline, nicknamed Motor, took her first ride in 1988. Her owner kept finding her perched on his parked cycle. He decided to take her for a slow ride. “I thought she’d jump off,” he says. “Instead, she moved forward and looked over the windshield. She didn’t seem spooked at all.” It took about a year of practice for Motor to become a pro. Now the nine-year-old cat and owner J. Catman—that’s the name he prefers—ride around the Washington, D.C., area where they live. Motor braces herself for stops, recognizes turn signals, and leans into curves. She even waits patiently at intersections—usually. “Once, I didn’t notice the light had changed,” says Catman. “She meowed real loudly until I started up again!”
