Rachael Bale is the executive editor of National Geographic’s animal desk. In that role, she also manages and contributes to Wildlife Watch, a National Geographic Society reporting project that reports on wildlife crime and exploitation. Previously, she covered the environment for the Center for Investigative Reporting. She also has worked for KQED, San Francisco’s public radio station, and for the Center for Public Integrity, a nonprofit investigative newsroom.
