Susan Kamenar is a travel writer, producer, and digital strategist at National Geographic. She is passionate about solo travel and her stories often stem from personal experiences like traveling to the World Cup every four years, day-tripping from Mexico City, and appreciating the art of hygge in Copenhagen.
Prior to joining National Geographic, she produced Webby Award-winning #EverestNoFilter, a breakthrough project in expedition journalism where two mountaineers documented their attempt to summit Mt. Everest without supplemental oxygen in real-time over social media.
Over the past decade, she worked in New York and Los Angeles leading digital strategy for artists, actors, athletes, and startups at Sony Music, Creative Artists Agency, Maverick, and independently. In parallel, she began expressing her love for travel as a Local Expert for AFAR where she wrote and curated destination guides.
Susan is now based in Washington D.C. and is always ready for a hike, road trip, or breakfast.
