A who’s who of exploration—seven renowned leaders in their fields—will gather 6:30 p.m. ET on Monday, April 10, at National Geographic Society headquarters in Washington, D.C., as the Society sets out to redefine exploration.

These pioneers are to become the Society’s first group of explorers-in-residence. The explorers will continue their provocative research projects under the Society’s banner, working to unravel archaeological, paleontological, and biological mysteries that have intrigued the world for centuries. They also will serve as advisers on National Geographic projects and as beacons of inspiration to adults and children concerned about natural and cultural resources.
