Day 2: Amman

Set out for the ancient city of Jerash, one of the best-preserved cities of the Roman Empire. Stroll down a broad colonnaded street and stand before the striking ruins of the Temple of Artemis and the triumphal Arch of Hadrian. Witness an exciting reenactment of a Roman chariot race in the historic hippodrome.

Day 3: Amman/Petra

Explore the Royal Automobile Museum in Amman, which features rare and classic vehicles from the collection of the late King Hussein. Then, head to Madaba, the “city of mosaics.” On the floor of the Byzantine church of St. George, marvel at the famous 6th-century Madaba map depicting the region of Jerusalem and the Holy Land in over two million pieces of colored stone. Continue on to the rose-red city of Petra.

Day 4: Petra

Wind through a narrow passage between red canyon walls and emerge into the spectacular ancient stronghold of Petra, built by Nabataean nomads more than 2,000 years ago. Countless rock-cut tombs and temples line the sandstone corridors including the legendary 130-foot-high facade of Al Khazneh, known as the Treasury. Examine intricate stone carvings and learn about the sophisticated water collection systems that turned Petra into an oasis city.

Day 5: Wadi Rum

Follow in the footsteps of Bedouin nomads and famed explorers as you delve into the dramatic desert landscapes of Wadi Rum. Set out by 4x4 amid weathered sandstone mountains and rolling red dunes. Look for ancient petroglyphs and take in lunar-like vistas featured in Hollywood films such as The Martian. Settle into our comfortable desert camp situated below striking rock formations. Later, enjoy cocktails while the sunset paints the horizon in dazzling hues of pink and orange.

Day 6: Wadi Rum/Aqaba

Rise early and savor the stillness of the desert at sunrise before continuing south to Aqaba, Jordan’s only coastal city. In 1917, the historic Battle of Aqaba saw T. E. Lawrence, or “Lawrence of Arabia”, lead Arab forces to victory against the Ottoman army. Relax on your balcony overlooking the Red Sea or wander the waterfront streets lined with swaying palm trees.

Day 7: Aqaba

Discover the rich and vivid marine world off the coast of Aqaba on a cruise or a snorkeling excursion. Encounter colorful corals, clownfish, moray eels, and sea turtles in this protected area. Day 8: Dead Sea

Today, explore a number of remarkable sites on the way north to the Dead Sea. Stop at Bethany Beyond the Jordan—believed to be the location where Jesus was baptized—and discover the remnants of ancient churches, chapels, and monasteries at this active pilgrimage site. Stand atop Mount Nebo, where Moses is said to have viewed the Promised Land before he died. This evening, settle into our hotel on the shore of the Dead Sea.
