Itinerary

Set sail aboard the magnificent four-masted Sea Cloud to explore the lush islands and vibrant cultures of the Lesser Antilles. Hike in the mountainous rain forests of Dominica, discover an active volcanic crater in Saint Lucia, and explore the idyllic Grenadines. Amid a spectacular tropical backdrop, enjoy opportunities to swim and snorkel at reefs and white-sand beaches, and discover the hidden corners that make this place so special.

Day 1: U.S./Barbados

Arrive in Barbados and settle into your cabin aboard the elegant Sea Cloud. Cast off this evening, and enjoy dinner and our first Caribbean sunset.

Day 2: At Sea

Begin the morning on deck, where sailors climb the lines to raise the Sea Cloud's sails by hand. Enjoy a full day skimming across the turquoise waters of the Caribbean. Relax with a book, photograph the ship and its exquisite details, and attend talks by our experts on the natural history of the islands we will soon explore.

Day 3: Dominica

Spend the day exploring rugged Dominica, known as "the nature island" for its spectacular beauty and many protected reserves. Hike in a mountain rainforest where wildlife and birds abound, and discover waterfalls and hot springs created by active volcanoes. Join our historian to explore the ruins of Fort Shirley, an 18th-century British garrison, and learn about Dominica’s turbulent colonial history. Head to a secluded beach to swim or snorkel before casting off for a sunset sail.

Days 4-5: Îles Des Saintes, guadeloupe/Bequia, The Grenadines

Sail to Terre-de-Haut in the Îles des Saintes and explore the main town, dotted with brightly painted houses. Walk up to Fort Napoléon, a 19th-century French barracks that now houses a museum and cactus garden, and then go snorkeling or swimming. The next day, delve into the unique culture of Bequia, once home to a diverse group of seafarers, whalers, and buccaneers. Take a drive around the island, stopping to visit a model boat museum. In Port Elizabeth, browse the local market and stroll the waterfront Belmont Walkway, or choose to go snorkeling or swimming.

Day 6: At Sea/Carriacou, Grenada

Spend the morning sailing the idyllic Grenadines, known for their golden beaches, superb coral reefs, and relaxed and inviting atmosphere. This afternoon, enjoy snorkeling and swimming in Tyrell Bay or enjoy the town of Hillsborough on a guided stroll.

Day 7: Les Pitones, Saint Lucia

Arrive at Saint Lucia and anchor under the island’s iconic twin peaks, Les Pitons. Visit the fishing port of Soufrière, and then set off on a thrilling drive into Saint Lucia’s active volcanic crater. Explore its otherworldly landscape of mud pools and sulfur springs, then discover island wildlife on a nature walk with the backdrop of Diamond Falls.

Day 8: Barbados/U.S.

Disembark and transfer to the airport for your return flight.
