Dave Smith’s thirty-plus years as a provincial park ranger, national park warden, and biologist give him intimate knowledge of the Canadian Rockies. His work in the mountains has involved everything from patrolling on horseback to living in remote backcountry cabins, wildlife management, law enforcement, mountain rescue, avalanche control, and overseeing the wildfire and vegetation programs for Jasper National Park. He regularly lectures at colleges and universities and his work is featured in a number of documentary films. He has consulted on forestry and park-related issues in both Latin America and Europe. Dave provides a true insiders’ view of Canada’s Rocky Mountain National Parks.
