Republic of Korea native Jay Lee is Executive Director of the National Geographic Society in Asia, based in Seoul. NGS-Asia supports Asian explorers in scientific research, conservation, technology, and exploration projects, dealing with some of the major challenges that confront the world. Over the last two decades, Jay has been a leader in several industries and pursued pioneering academic research. He has earned three master’s degrees, including two from MIT, and conducted graduate research at the MIT Media Lab. Jay was head of the Future Convergence Group at Samsung Electronics, developing new business opportunities for the technology giant. He also founded serial startups in mobile and media, served as Chief Strategy Officer and Executive Vice President of IWILAB (now KAKAO), Senior Vice President of SK Telecom, Chief Executive Officer of the Celebrity, and Executive Director - Asia for One Laptop Per Child.
