Joanna (Jo) Roberts

There’s something undeniably poetic about crossing England on foot—so much so that if asked about summer wildflowers or autumnal heathers, there's a good chance guide Joanna Roberts will break into poetry. Based in England’s Lake District, she delights in sharing her knowledge about everything from local history to flora and fauna, and integrates poetry when possible. “There is a real beauty in the changing landscape from season to season,” Joanna says. Since 2000, she has been guiding expeditions in far-flung places including Nepal, Norway, Bolivia, Chile, Peru, Poland, and Jordan. In her free time she enjoys mountain biking and sea kayaking.
