Joseph W. Roberts, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Politics and International Relations and a 2010 Presidential Fellow at Roger Williams University in Bristol, Rhode Island. In collaboration with his colleague Peter Alfieri, he has led several study abroad programs to Spain and Morocco examining the political culture and history of the region. He has developed and taught courses on political Islam, transnational social movements, the politics of the Middle East, and the United States in the Middle East. Joseph has received numerous awards for his research and teaching including a National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowship and a Collaborative Rhode Island Research Grant. He was also an inaugural Alwaleed Fellow for Oman for the National Council on U.S.-Arab Relations (2015-2016) and was a member of the Roger Williams University Fulbright-Hayes Egypt Fellowship in July 2011. Professor Roberts is the Political Science Instruction Editor for the Journal of Political Science Education. He is currently the treasurer of the Political Science Education section of the American Political Science Association and is very active in both the section and the association.
