A native of Buenos Aires, María Cecilia Costa studied education, the natural sciences, and photography during college. She then set out to travel the world, exploring South America, Europe, and Oceania; but her heart brought her back to Argentina. Since 1998, María has been based in El Chaltén—a colorful hiker’s town situated at the foot of Monte Fitz Roy—leading treks and photography tours throughout the continent. María is an avid birder, and co-founded the El Chaltén Birdwatchers Club. She has also authored field guides to three Patagonian national parks: Los Glaciares, Tierra del Fuego, and Torres del Paine.
