Peter Frost is an archaeologist, writer, photographer, and independent scholar who has explored the Andes and the Amazon for 35 years and lived in Peru since 1987. He has published four books on Peru and Ecuador, including a guide to the Cusco region and a book on Machu Picchu. In 2001 and 2002, he led National Geographic Society-sponsored expeditions into the remote region of Vilcabamba, finding and exploring the previously unknown Inca and pre-Inca site of Qoriwayrachina, featured in the February 2004 issue of National Geographic magazine. In 2012 and 2013, he led an expedition to locate unreported pre-Inca ruins at Wiracochan and Marcana Qhawana, above Vilcabamba’s Yanama river canyon, following up with extensive survey and excavation work there in 2016. He frequently accompanies and gives talks to National Geographic travelers.
On our Peru: Land of the Inca expedition, Peter Frost will join the specified departures on Day 3 for our visit to the Sacred Valley.
