Just as in the real world, you need to use your common sense when you surf the Net. A few tips to keep in mind if you leave our site and connect elsewhere on the World Wide Web:

- Keep personal information to yourself. Don’t give strangers your address, your phone number, or the name of your school.

- Some people online may not be who they say they are. It’s one thing to exchange messages, but never agree to meet anyone in person before talking it over with your parents.

- The Internet reaches around the globe. You may encounter people with different opinions and beliefs. That’s the best part of exploring! But if you are ever offended, embarrassed, or angered, don’t get into a fight—leave that site. And tell your parents.

- Be courteous when writing messages. Millions of people use the Web, and any of them can read what you post at a site.
