Priit VesilindSenior writer Priit Vesilind wrote “Why Explore?” for the February 1998 issue of NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC. Since joining the Society in 1973, he has undertaken more than 25 field assignments in places ranging from Tennessee to Brazil to Sri Lanka. A native of Estonia, Vesilind has done extensive reportage on the Baltic region. He was a member of the launch team for nationalgeographic.com and authored On Assignment USA, a 1997 book profiling photographers and writers who have contributed to the GEOGRAPHIC.
