Holly Wissler

Ethnomusicologist

Ethnomusicologist Holly Wissler specializes in the musical rituals of Peru’s Q’eros and Wachiperi indigenous groups. She works with indigenous communities to preserve their culture and traditions, and has produced documentaries about Q’eros musical rituals the largest pilgrimage festival in the Peruvian Andes. Holly is fluent in Spanish and Quechua—the main indigenous language spoken in the Andes— and is conversant in both American and Peruvian Sign Languages. The Peru director for the Center for World Music, Holly plays classical flute as well as a number of traditional Andean instruments.
