Ruchira Somaweera is a biologist and research scientist at Australia’s national science institute specializing in the ecology and conservation of reptiles. Ru’s research subjects are varied, ranging from horned lizards in his native Sri Lanka to crocodiles in the Australian outback. His work has been published in numerous scientific papers and several books, and has also been featured in TV documentaries. As a National Geographic Explorer and a member of Australia’s STEM Professionals in Schools program, Ru is actively involved in inspiring the next generation of biologists.
