Thursday Twitter Chat: Foodie Travel

Finding the perfect croissant at an out-of-the-way Paris boulangerie. Pulling up a stool on a Hanoi sidewalk to slurp pho with the locals. Browsing the eels at the Kreta Ayer Wet Market with Singaporeans at dawn.

Beyond giving sustenance (and being yummy), experiencing a new place through food gives travelers a taste of local life wherever they happen to be. But ferreting out authentic, travel-enriching gastronomic options while attempting to soak up the sights is easier said than done.

(That’s why we launched a new series of culinary road maps to help foodies home in on classic, trendy, and unexpected eats near iconic points of interest in Tokyo, Rio de Janiero, New York City, Paris, and Cape Town.)

If you prefer your culture with a side of cuisine, join @NatGeoTravel for our next Twitter chat on Thursday, November 12.
