Chena Hot Springs Resort (Alaska) 
The Spa: Built in the early 1900s for gold miners in Alaska's pioneer days, this 440-acre (178-hectare) resort still relieves achy joints with soaks in the tingling 105°F (40.5˚C) mineral-rich hot springs. Green Gulch Farm Zen Center (California)
The Spa: A traditional octagonal Japanese guesthouse, organic farm, teahouse, and sauna greet guests at this 110-acre (44.5-hectare) Zen Buddhist retreat center perched between California's Coast Ranges and the Pacific.
