Each of the communities participating in Partners in Preservation will host a special open house event where you can learn more about their restoration project and even cast a special in-person vote to show your support. At the end of the campaign, the community that receives the most in-person votes during their open house event will receive a special $50,000 grant.

For over 50 years, Denver’s first female African American doctor, Justina L. Ford, treated patients in her home. Known by the community as the “Baby Doctor,” she delivered 7,000 babies and treated countless others. Today, her home serves as the Black American West Museum and Heritage Center, which celebrates the influence African Americans had on western expansion. The open house will feature tours of the museum, performances (including a special performance from The Spirituals Project), food trucks, and historical interpreters.
