California's San Joaquin Valley has some of the worst air quality in the United States.

The region's residents, and especially its most disadvantaged populations, are vulnerable to the severe impacts of chronic pollution.

But with any problem comes solutions. A nonprofit group called Valley Clear Air Now (Valley CAN) is working to repair the region's air by fixing cars. With a mission to improve public health and quality of life in disadvantaged communities, Valley CAN promotes vehicle repair and replacement programs across eight California counties. They also aim to educate, train, and inspire a new generation of technicians with a focus on and expertise in electric vehicles.

So far, Valley CAN has completed more than 30,000 repairs. In the process, they are preventing smog, saving people money, and helping the climate. Watch and discover more about Valley CAN and the team of people working to create a brighter future for us all.

GM's Commitment

With the support of General Motors, Valley CAN has expanded its electric vehicle maintenance training program to be available to students at a total of five community college campuses throughout the San Joaquin Valley.

"General Motors wants to make mobility safer, more accessible, and more environmentally friendly for all," said Terry Rhadigan, executive director of corporate giving at GM. "We're proud to work with Valley CAN to support greater access to electric vehicle maintenance training programs in California, helping to meet the growing demand for highly skilled electric vehicle technicians."
