On our second day in Bhutan, we stopped shortly for lunch in the town of Punakha on our way to Tongsa. This man, photographed here on Punakha's main street, is wearing a traditional gho. In Bhutan, people are required to wear the national dress as well as live in a Bhutanese-style house, although you will still see an occasional daring T-shirt and Chicago Bulls baseball cap!

This is actually a storefront. The man is buying something from outside the store, as most people do. That was one aspect of this traditional society that I thought had to be photographed.

I used one of my self-made filters for this picture. I took all the Bhutan pictures on Kodak 400PMC film. It's great to print with this negative. I love to fiddle in the darkroom. Unfortunately I was working in Pakistan recently, so I couldn't print the Bhutan images myself.
