Writer-Photographer
Steve Casimiro
Believe the hype: Writer and photographer Steve Casimiro finds out why Utah's White Rim Trail is mountain biking's mecca.

Most mountain bikers jump at the chance to ride Utah's White Rim Trail in Canyonlands National Park. The popularity of the Moab-area favorite was precisely what had kept writer and photographer Steve Casimiro away. Instead, he opted for rides with bigger climbs and less acclaim. Until now.

For the April Adventure's "Chasing the Red Barren" (read excerpt), Casimiro put White Rim's reputation to the test. He and a partner pushed through the 100-mile (161-kilometer) loop in only two days, while hauling 50-pound (23-kilogram) trailers loaded with camping gear, water, and bare bones camera equipment (a camera, four lenses, 40 rolls of film, and a light meter).
