Moab's Greatest Ride

Leaning on his gear trailer, Shidan Towfiq looks down on the final climb out of the White Rim.

"I took this to show the trailer and gear we were hauling. We were using BOB trailers, designed specifically for mountain biking. It was a very effective way to carry our stuff, but they dramatically change the way the bike feels. They probably weighed 50 pounds (23 kilograms) each; the photo gear alone weighed 15 pounds (7 kilograms).

"I used a selective focus [to take this photo], so you don't really look down, instead you look at Shidan and the trailer. The trailers were a big part of our effort, a big added challenge. We definitely felt that doing it in two days was hard because we had to haul more weight and travel more miles over such a short period of time."
