| Welcome to the Jungle |
"A few of the Huaorani women took us upriver to their communal garden, where they were growing all these bananas. At one point there was this deluge of rain. Here this woman is carrying 80 pounds (36 kilograms) of bananas, not seeming to mind at all the torrential downpour.
"At the same time, Olivier and I were seeking shelter under banana leaf umbrellas. The mud on the ground was also incredibly slippery, almost like modeling clay, and I was falling all over the place. Yet these Huaorani just walked with ease."
