"The Old City of Ghadamis is riddled by hidden pathways and abandoned homes. As the evening light settled in, my guide and I came across a Sufi ceremony. Sufism is practiced covertly in most Muslim cultures, but in Libya it is accepted. My guide, a Sufi himself, helped me gain access to the ceremony. After half an hour, the music became very intense and everybody fell into a trance. My presence was completely forgotten."
