We hiked through County Kerry's soggy, boggy lake area toward Carrantuohill, Ireland's tallest peak at 3,415 feet (1,041 meters). The wind was swirling from both sides of the mountain.
My plan for this assignment was not to slow things down for the photography. I was working side-by-side with writer Gregory Mone, who has Irish family and knows the country well. I wanted to keep Greg's experience that of traveling in Ireland and not attending my photo shoot. We were also trying to pack in as many activities as possible into a week. In some ways, we were covering twice as much ground than most travelers.
